Mark Vodden

Mark has nearly fifteen years experience advising clients on corporate strategy, financings, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. He is passionate for growth and assisting his clients on through some of their toughest business issues. For more than 10 years, Mark built his career with the corporate finance businesses at both Deloitte LLP and KPMG LLP. He has held Vice President roles at both companies and has led a team of finance professionals at both investment banks to assist clients on the execution of major strategic initiatives. 


Prior to ElkLake Partners, Mark was the Vice President of Corporate Development at a national metal products distribution business. Mark was responsible for leading the sales team, overseeing the procurement function, and assessing strategic business initiatives. Mark has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (honours) from the university of Victoria. He obtained in Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alberta. Mark is also a Chartered Business Valuator.

Representative Experience

Mark has worked with clients on over $1 billion in transactions across various industries and sizes ranging from transactions of one million to over $1.0B including:

  • Advised Firemaster Oilfield Services Inc. on its sale to Barrow Safety Services Inc.
  • Advised Jasa Engineering Inc. on its sale to the Inline Group Inc.
  • Assisted the Blood Tribe in obtaining senior debt financing to facilitate a joint venture with AltaLink
  • Advised Northern Metalic FSJ on its sale to a division of the Side Group
  • Assisted in the CCAA sales process of RedRock Camps Inc.
  • Assisted in the CCAA sales process of an Alberta based hotel 
  • Advised Tundra Energy Marketing on acquisition of $1.075B acquisition of S.E. Sask. Enbridge Assets
  • Advised a Calgary company on the acquisition and financing of select Swan Hills assets from Pengrowth Energy
  • Advised the Reignwood Horizon group on its corporate acquisition bid of Twin Butte Energy 
  • Advised Canadian power and utilities corporation on a corporate acquisition strategy
  • Advised ALBI Homes on its sale to Brookfield Residential
  • Advised an AB energy services & fabrication business during a divestiture process
  • Assisted Coldstream Helicopter in its sale to Yellowhead Helicopters
  • Advised McLeod Windows in its sale to Kohltech Windows 
  • Advised All Weather Windows on a corporate acquisition bid of Gienow Windows and Doors

Felix Lee

Originally from New Zealand, Felix joined ElkLake Partners after spending 3 years as an Investment Banking Analyst at boutique Investment Bank / Corporate Advisory firm, Campbell MacPherson (based out of Auckland, New Zealand).


During his tenure at Campbell MacPherson, Felix gained significant experience in public and private company valuations, transactions across multiple industries, budgeting/forecasting, banking reviews and extensive financial modeling.


When Felix is not supporting the Utah Jazz, he enjoys hitting the ski slopes and exploring the Canadian outdoors. 

Representative Experience

Felix has worked with clients across various industries ranging from company enterprise values of between $1 million and $150 million including:

  • Provided advisory support to the asset management division of New Zealand banks, assisting with the management of challenging loans / borrowers. 
  • Advised a small sized utility company on the sale to a private equity firm.
  • Provided transaction services for the sale of wind farm development rights.
  • Assisted a transport company with a strategic review process.
  • Involved in the preparation of Independent Advisers Reports for a publicly listed hospitality company and a meat processing company.
  • Assisted a large community healthcare provider with a debt refinance in addition to providing buy-side transaction support.
  • Advised a family office on the acquisition of a national transport carrier.
  • Assisted a large dairy farming operation with a strategic review.

Rhys Renouf

Rhys joined ElkLake Partners after serving as Senior Advisor, Business Development at United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative Limited. Previously, Rhys had a distinguished 20-year career with KPMG LLP, where he led the Corporate Finance practice in Alberta as a partner. During his tenure at KPMG, he advised on M&A and financing transactions exceeding $2.5 billion and supported municipal, territorial, and federal governments by evaluating business plans for organizations seeking funding. Prior to KPMG, Rhys progressed through various roles at HSBC Canada, advancing from junior loan officer to Vice President of Corporate Finance.
