We believe that this will ultimately benefit shareholders, employees, our society and our country.

Job Description: ElkLake Partners is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join the team to primarily support the growing fractional leadership side of our business. Our fractional leadership team takes senior financial and operational leadership roles (CFO, CRO, Operating Partner) in businesses to drive value through hands on execution. We bring a deal mindset to help our clients accelerate growth, improve financial performance, and position the business to command a premium valuation.

The ideal candidate will be a high-performing CPA with experience or strong interest in value creation and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). This role, based in our downtown Calgary office, offers an opportunity to work closely with senior team members and clients from a variety of industries on fractional leadership engagements leading to a future divestiture or capital raise process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Improvements to Financial Reporting, Governance and Forecasting: Identify opportunities for improvement, implement changes and support clients on an ongoing basis.
  • Performance Improvement and Exit Readiness: Identify and implement changes working collaboratively with client management teams.
  • Communication and Client Interaction: Demonstrate thoughtfulness and confidence in speaking with senior client contacts (CXO) in meetings and presentations.
  • Multitasking and Project Management: Ability to stay organized while managing multiple clients on different timelines with competing priorities.
  • Financial Analysis and Modeling: Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support valuation, structuring, and negotiation of M&A transactions.
  • Data Management: Maintain and organize transaction data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for the team.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Recent completion of a professional accounting or finance designation such as a CPA.
  • Experience: 3-5 years work experience. Direct experience as a financial analyst/accountant for a private company would be beneficial. Strong interest in value creation and mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Some experience with ERP/accounting systems (eg. NetSuite, Sage)
    • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Why Join ElkLake Partners?

  • Client Impact: Play a key role in helping our clients achieve transformational outcomes for their businesses.
  • Professional Growth: Opportunity to work on high-impact transactions and gain exposure to a broad range of industries.
  • Team Environment: Collaborate with a team of seasoned professionals in a supportive and entrepreneurial setting.

Application Process: Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their resume and a cover letter outlining their qualifications and interest in the position to below. ElkLake Partners is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in our workforce. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
